ELIXER PRISTINE I know why she smiles. Inside my drizzling, inside my day shivering, the light behind my nimbus cannot not stop the overrunning of my banks by the swelling of colliding thoughts; the grind is heavy. Together forever was forever stunted. More bills it seems than money. A child out the nest alights on her new perch perilous as her brother begins spreading his small wings. Over my shoulder a bottle in high heels sings of love one hundred proof, a foil label of cleavage under a red dress to seduce. Across that hall u-turning 'round a wall of fool's gold to cross a winter floor of scree under a dripping blueberry faucet - above which is rescue in a cabinet; Jack's beans for the lowly. Uncapped, I knock 'em back and await my travel down Lilac Lane to Tiburon where swallowing measures of To Nola With Love brings in Mr. Cool Breeze on rat a tat a tats After Sunset. The piano entices me with a chaste sound that slows my blinks with every measure, the double bass releases thermals to uplift, there to be carried in drift until I am completely lost. My skin puckers to a trumpet's sultry dream which reveals this mixed cherry spread of toasty measures around musical slurs wrapped in tastes "sax." They heal, they rebuild, they swirl as elixir in glasses tangerine; rolling on upon sips distant, teasing, and pristine.
