The Drink
He has sipped once again and is still thirsty, but he worries.

I have drank every drop of you
and still I have a thirst to quench
I have played every single minute
and never took a seat on the bench

It has been a good feeling to know
It’s one that I will never let go
It is so different and so new
and it’s all because of you

You have freed me from my prison
created by memories long forgiven
your breezes blowing from within
bringing me to the starting gate again

I hear the shots of the starter’s gun
I have always had the speed to run
But I don’t see me growing past you
keeping up will be the best I can do

The night can bring a midnight rain
Pouring memories and drops of pain
But this heart of mine will remain intact
It’s too late now to start looking back
