Paradise Lost
Rated: E | Poetry | Environment | #1676834
In honor of the wildlife effected by the Gulf Oil Spill - with a 4 syllabic line count
A tarry beak,
A sticky tail,
Some clogged up gills,
That can't inhale.

A poisoned home,
A blackened fin,
Growing battles,
That they can't win.

A corpse ashore,
A somber mood,
Nowhere to hide,
No sight of food.

A filthy mess,
A blinding view,
Without one thing,
That they can do.

A baby lost,
A mother dead,
Families torn,
There's more ahead.

An eye glued shut,
A breath denied,
Sludge that's as deep,
As it is wide.

A wing weighed down,
A chain unlinked,
Turtles threatened,
Nearly extinct.

A toxic beach,
A ruined topsoil,
All at what price?
For greedy oil.
