Rebsla’s medallion glowed with a soft blue light. She could neither see nor hear any difference in the surrounding woods, though she had faith that her God could. Silently she made her way back toward the campfire, ‘danger’ she thought to her companions, in case the unseen enemy reached them first.

The other clerics were awake as she arrived, Sunhawk and Ginfla were busily arousing the others. Like the seasoned campaigners they were, each rose silently without question their first instinct to reach for a weapon.

“What do we face?” Moonhawk asked.

“I’ve no idea, Mavours warned me, I could sense nothing.”

“You caught this one, it’s your call,” Moonhawk said, referring to the old agreement, the first to find the trouble took command. A system that had served them well, as each cleric was in their own right a leader. The others joined them, Ginfla dousing the fire, as he past, with a simple gesture.

Circle defence,” Rebsla said, “us clerics at the main points. I want defensive glyphs in the inner circle, leave one line to be filled and let the others know it.”

“I will not hide behind magic,” Lendof said, baring his fanged teeth, “my kind do not run.”

“If we cannot stop them, we four need to unite; the protection is for you, not them.”

Lendof nodded, he’d once witnessed the power of twins, where they’d each surpassed their individual abilities, the power was as immense, the power of all four didn’t bare thinking about.

Fear filled the air, like something from a nightmare, each accepted it in their own way, as they had learnt to do.

The creature entered the small clearing, expecting to see helpless victims.

“Leave or die,” Rebsla said, looking at the creature.

“Oops, wrong clearing.” The creature said, backing away.
