“I don’t want to go!” whined the girl.
“Well, you fucking have to!” replied her father, the language appalling onlookers watching the spectacle on the street.
“I’ll call Kitty,” the girl threatened.
The man whirled around to face the child, his frantic features now tinged with fear.
“You told me Kitty had gone away,” the man replied.
“I lied,” the girl spat, her face growing red, “and if you don’t take me home now, Kitty will come and everyone on this street will die.”
A woman who had been watching the exchange let out a shrill laugh. “The little girl’s kitty is going to kill us all!” she cried out in a mocking tone.
“No!” the father yelled, trying to silence the chuckles of the onlookers.
The woman who had spoke stiffened, and started to convulse violently, her feet still planted firmly on the sidewalk. Blood started flowing from her nose and ears just as her eyes burst from their sockets. She dropped to the ground, her head shaking violently. Her mouth opened, a large crack was heard as her jawbone snapped. A black furry head emerged, its red eyes glaring at the horrified pedestrians.
The people ran. Kitty pounced.
