Preacher
A short poem regarding the dangerous influence of those we dare not question.

Hypnotic eyes,
Pointed words.
A serpent’s tongue,
The audience lured
Into a deadly trap he set.

Opinions falter,
Fade - and fast!
Make room for new ones
That could last
Against his vigorous condemnations.

Arguments and seeming evidence,
Make us all to blame.
No-one dares to call out
And exaggerate their shame
At the power they think he has.

Alone at home,
He hums and sneers.
Runs a bath and
Then he peers
At a world he helped create.

He does not believe his preaching,
But there’s nothing
Like that power…
Voices in his head ring
As they fade into his lies.
