The adversary
Of God in man Satan a serpent’s tongue With thoughts inflamed Of highest design, His solitary flight Hanging in the clouds Shaking a dreadful dart With mortal sting And horrid strides - The monster moving on In days of woe and pain Punishing man, His sight to see Thunder falling in the sky God on high with his son - Firm they stood The gates of hell Near the fiery furnace With smoke and flame Suddenly doused Amidst the noise, Crying endless days Burning into charcoal Satan the devil Crying why me? Made of cedar and pine Disfigured for mankind Now lying in hell For you who believe, This act of grace on high To live life eternal here No need the fear To die with me - The sacred veil at noon Wise Nicodemus saw His God by sight In purest light, Healing wings rising up Far beyond this earth Bowing in heaven, The lord to praise The angels in paradise Walking in the new light - Eden a garden green Cleansed from our sin Holding hands with Jesus, His voice a loving melody For the broken hearted No more tears to cry.
