“Are you sure you know where you are going?” Nairden asked his friend Moonhawk, seeing the elf secreting what was tantamount to a small arsenal about her body.
“A small village called Seno. Currently full of bandits, soon to be full of dead men.” Moonhawk replied, strapping Hawkblade into place at her hip. “Let me rephrase that, do you know how you are getting there?” “They left a map.” “I know a quicker route, I’m coming with you.” “They said to come alone.” “They also said to come unarmed,” Nairden pointed out, knowing in his head Moonhawk’s weapons were easier concealed than a fellow traveller. “Sunhawk maybe your twin but he is also my friend. You know this is trap as well as I do, let me help.” “I just need to know these swords work as we were told. If I surrender it, I need to know I will be able to call it to me at any moment, without magic or psionics.” “It will always return, no matter what,” Nairden said sharply. “That’s all I need know, since you plan to follow anyway you may as well act as guide too.” Nairden smiled, it was the closest Moonhawk would ever get to admitting she wanted help. “Get me there, I’m expected. I need you to take advantage of the diversion and get Sun loose. There must be a point you can go on ahead without them seeing.” “They’ll make sure you to leave alone when you leave. I’ll meet you in Hewto woods, then we can finalise plans.” ***** ****** ******* “We lost her. She’d her sword, but never left the woods.” “Bandits?” “We left none alive to aid or harbour her.” “You gentleman aren’t looking for me ?” Moonhawk asked. Sunhawk and Nairden by her side, swords drawn. “Leave or die?” (word count 300)
