Colored People

By Indelibleink

Colored people are - at times - a source of pain,
The basis of actions that so yank my chain.
Some say not to "go there" and stir up the pot,
They tell me I'm wrong (but I'm sure that I'm not).

Let's start with those who are envious and mean,
In my world those people are colored deep green.
There's no talking to them, and no "in-between,"
Wish they were less often heard; less often seen
.

There are those who choose to be angry instead,
There's just one color for them, and it would have to be red.
Hard to imagine what goes on in that head,
A confrontation with them is something I dread.

Then there are those whose good days are but a few,
Perpetually sad, we color them blue.
In search of joy, or for a love they once knew,
Destined for heartache, one constant that rings true.

Enter the coward - his life not mellow,
He is the one we often color yellow.
Don't ever turn your back on this fellow,
You'll recognize him by his spine of jello.

Those with an outlook that's so dismal all day,
I've no other choice but to color them grey.
Forever consumed in work - no time to play,
You wonder how they ever became that way
.

Feel better now - having had the chance to vent,
Your ear I appreciate having been lent.
Getting you angry was just not my intent,
Based on the title, what did you think I meant?
