NO BREATH OF LIFE (Winter 2004) Champagne bubbles sparkle in the sun Inside a lonely crystal glass No luscious lips brushing against the one No slender fingers that caress The fragile foot that's standing tall Against the sleeping trees The playful shadow on the wall That lady eyes won't miss A hanging cigarette, its laughing smoke Trapping the air in flight But no one is there to hear it talk No breath of life in sight From my first book Pieces of Me
