I don't need to read,
Johnny Cash and a bottle of booze, that's all I'll ever need. Well I'm ridin' on down State road 44, when the trooper pulled me around. He came up to my window, and asked for the usual. I looked at him and said, "No." I don't need to read, Johnny Cash and a bottle of booze, that's all I'll ever need. Well I got home, around 3 AM and found that guy on my front porch just waitin' for me. I told him, "Sir, I'm sorry for all the bad I done, and I swear I won't do it again, you don't gotta worry." I don't need to read, Johnny Cash and a bottle of booze, that's all I'll ever need. Well he cuffed me up and shoved back into his cars, man I didn't mea to interrupt. I got to that old rotten prison, he threw me in that 6-by-10 cell, and by God I told myself to do good to all the people I be missin'. I don't need to read, Johnny Cash and a bottle of booze, that's all I'll ever need. About three weeks later, I hightailed outta there, I never did look back, My regret couldn't have been faker. I hate that cop with all the soul in my bones. And I'm gonna get him, there ain't no way I'm gonna stop. I don't need to read, Johnny Cash and a bottle of booze, that's all I'll ever need.
