Coloring the World Contest
Prompt # 142 Send Me a Rainbow

“16When the bow [rainbow] is in the clouds and I look upon it, I will [earnestly] remember the everlasting covenant or pledge between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. “
Genesis 9:16

Because of this great covenant -, we know that Earth shall abide. A future lies before us! We can count on it coming! Because, we have the greatest assurance. We have God's promise!

Send Me A Rainbow, Lord

Send me a rainbow, Lord;
A promise that I might see
Your wondrous omnipotence
And know You care for me.

I know that I am lost.
I have wandered far away.
I have been a follower
That has been led astray.

By Your great loving grace,
I can be made whole again;
This mere shadow of a man,
Filled now with so much sin.

Forgive me God, I pray.
I yearn to return back home.
This broken and haggard soul
Shall never want to roam.

I thought that I was wise.
I thought I knew what was best.
I thought the ways of the world
Outweighed all the rest.

I laughed at what You’d taught.
I scoffed at each of Your rules.
I have come to realize
I acted quite the fool.

Then I awoke to find
The world was not my friend.
There was not one who cared
Whether I met my end.

Dejected and depressed,
I was shattered and alone.
In the depths of this black pit
I knew I must atone.

Your words spoke to my soul
From a place down deep inside—
A place that I’d forgotten,
And I broke down and cried.

I shed so many tears
For a life that had been lost;
Then, I accepted Jesus,
Who'd loved me with a cross.

You sent Your rainbow, God
To shine in my dismal life;
Your great covenant of love;
Your promise that ended strife.

Through this promise of love
We know that You’re in control
Our future lies in You, Lord;
In You, we are made whole.
