One of several song lyrics I've written where the music never represented what I wanted.
DAYS GONE BY

Here you sit alone and think of days gone by
Letting go the dreams of youth with good-bye sigh
Hey Jack, ya' face the facts
The casting of the die
And carry-on another life that's not a lie

Fleeting glimpse of Golden Robes that passed you by
Runner-up to lesser men, you know not why
Knock Fate and their Pearly Gate
You know them for their lie
A truer Heart you could not find or even buy

You play your Hand, but wild card trumps still make you cry
There are no Rules, Except for Fools Who will not Vie
To Win the Race at any Pace
That Rat Race World They Eye
A Pewter Crown They win downtown, pie in the sky

You left their World behind them and They knew not why
Higher Ground you went to take your Hopes to Fly
You still feel Love from Up Above
Emotions They will Fie
They'll never see the World to Be,
                  They will not try
