Around and around I go

I’m sitting in this seat, ready to push the button—the button that sends me back in time.  Or so the eggheads say.  But you don’t see them volunteering for the ride.  Well, that’s okay, it is my job after all--the job I was trained for.

After sitting in meetings day after day I’m ready to get the show on the road.  They say everything has been worked out, but I’m not so sure they know just what’s going to happen.  Like I said, you don’t see one of them getting ready to throw themselves a week into the past.  Funny.  That’s about the time I got the call.

In my earpiece I hear, “Time to go.  Good luck, Commander.  Initiate.”  I push the button.

*

The telephone rings.  I answer.  It’s General Harrmon.  Everything’s a go.  I am to report to NASA’s T-building immediately.
