Lawful Lie
Short poem ~ we all become objects in the system of law.

It is still before us progressive men.
Awaiting judgment of words and pen.
Already it knows the ruling of the system
Which applies regardless of those it christens.

Do not move as I read your rights
From books pre-written and words that might
Once longer ago have had some meaning
But now’s only purpose in objective demeaning.

It is still before us progressive men.
Once a father who flourished like a mother hen
Amidst newly born babes and their heartfelt squeals,
Now its bones do creak as its body keels.

Do not talk before last words
When chance is given to be heard
But not understood as that would defy
The point of this intricate, lawful lie.
