My Daughter

The day you were born was not the only day you changed my life
Your first smile, your first giggle, your first step, your first word
All of these left an indelible mark on me and strengthened my soul
I’ve watched you grow from cute little girl to beautiful woman
I’ve seen you laugh in unbridled joy and cry in unbearable sorrow
All of these moments became a part of me and live inside my heart
Words are not adequate to express the love I have for you
Greater than the wind, mightier than the sea, bigger than the sun
It reaches around the moon and back again and even more than that
You are my light, you are my breath, you are what completes me
Sitting next to me or thousands of miles away, you are a part of me
You fill me up with an abundance of laughter, joy, wonder and love
I am richer than any king or queen, because you are my daughter
