GIVE ME A SIGN
Give me a sign, the faintest one That I may draw nigh you. Give me a sign that emboldens; Give me that fleeting cue. I love you but my heart can’t Take your love for granted. Give me just a little sign That I too am wanted. How I yearn to kiss you and Hold you tight in my arms! I have seen you from afar I wish to touch your charms. Give me a sign that you won’t mind If I sing you a song As in the lovely woods we, Hand in hand, walk along. Give me a sign, I will give my Heart that does for you burn, Ever ready to serve you At each and every turn. • Written in 7-6-7-6, abcb format. (“Give me a sign” has been treated as a three-syllable expression.) M C Gupta 23 July 2010
