11:51 PM September 15th, 2010 School. Has anyone other than myself realized how often we learn things that will never be of any use to us? In elementary, middle, and even high school I find that teaching every subject is useful to the students. At that point in time, most of us are still trying to determine what we like and dislike or what field we would like to go into. However, I find it redundant to force college students to study subjects outside of their field. (Like forcing an English major to take a math class or four foreign language classes) Truthfully, my rant comes from my intense displeasure of studying for my biology quiz. I mean, really! I suppose in some way, shape, or form I may use biology in my life or work. I am a writer, and biology can be moderately interesting. But in most cases, an English major will not use the information taught in biology once they leave college - just as a math major will more than likely not use history in their line of work. Oh! Not to mention that most of the information an English major (or any major) needs about math (or any subject) is taught to them in the first twelve years of schooling. Just saying. Anyways, now that I've got that out - I'm not quite sure where I was going with that. It appears I was going nowhere. On an entirely different note, I'm considering writing book reviews on published novels. Would anyone be interesting in reading those? Well, I'm off for today. I hope everyone's day has been fantastic! I know mine has. Sincerly, Rachael
