The Unexpected Gift

I found a snip of time today—
It let my thinking run and play!

I didn’t have it on “my list”
of stuff I’d planned to get the gist

of what my life is all about;
that list’s a shackle, there’s no doubt!

So, there I was, free time in hand--
a spot of time at my command.

Wanted to use it, spend it well.
Where it came from, I could not tell!

Would not look close to spoil the gift—
should it run off, my luck to shift.

So, I enjoyed it thoroughly;
Its pleasure made happy, free!
