A Bridge to Nowhere
...is a bridge to somewhere - a poem on greed and self-interest.

Much like Sarah Palin’s historically recited, bitter fight
To end the funding for that pork barrel project in her home state,
Countless transportation earmarks scale the imaginary wall
Of legislative irony, engaging the heroes of democratic fortitude
To utter their resounding pleas, saying – “Why is this so?!”
But this showcase of greed and manipulative self-interest
Highlights an essential ingredient in the lives
Of productive, worthwhile citizens who constructively envision
Immense, life-changing gains;
For lacking this greed and self-interest is a curse,
Despite the charitable, self-deprecating efforts of the many
And the lasting impact of these courageous heroes
On our beneficial, hard-working lives…
