Don't stop believing in me
Can only be my dearest Mother Seeing the tears in me, Long ago four years and twenty days The fear of writing a poem, Hiding it in a letter torn thrown away Vowing never to write again, Why not hide the thought in my mind. Weeping fear of failure from friends With laughter they told me, Wasting your time lost in the clouds Drifting hiding away, Where to hide and bury your head We can’t help you now. Why not cry your sorrows in a pub With us to sing songs, Dancing with the barmaid a kiss For you to smile again, Her embrace better than writing Alone without a thought, Why not try again one more time Entered into a contest, Coloring the world more than one Maybe two stars will do. Try again this time in your mind’s eye Unafraid a pen will flow, In words of wonder why not before But now in a new light, Four stars shining a bright beginning No more the pain, The fool hiding away in the cupboard Crying a poor review, Knowing I’ve made too many mistakes The road less travelled, For me trying to rectify myself to judge All other poets fairly, Beauty is blue in the eye of the beholder Teaching with reasoning. Try again in the pain of laughter to succeed In faithfulness.
