Don’t Stop Believing In Me

“Don’t stop believing in me,” whispers the rainbow,
even as my disillusion and failure touch a new low.
Is there hope for me yet in this world of harsh realities?
Can I ever rise above the conflicting, contrary dualities?

The endless sky, the infinite ocean, the song eternal
of the stars, the moon, the sun, and the seasons vernal
affirm that nothing in this temporal life is worth losing heart.
Belief in self and faith in God alone can bring a new start.

My eyes spot a white owl flying across the blue sky.
The harbinger of wisdom perches on a treetop high,
its beady eye takes in my presence; I stand motionless.
The bird lingers, perhaps meaning “get over the worthless.”

My equanimity is restored in a moment of revelation.
The breaking dawn brings hope, confidence, and elation.
The ocean is no longer mournful, the world no more cold.
My belief in good is rekindled and I return to God’s fold.
