The Unexpected Visitor!{/b}

Was watching my friend’s cats one day
when they came tumbling in from play—

I counted up the heard to see
a whole unknown pet, to me!

A huge raccoon had joined the group;
I’d seen it hanging round the stoop!

But now hunger had made it brave—
it came to eat, and so I gave

some lunch to enjoy in the house,
then just as swiftly put it out!
