Writer's Cramp Contest Entry - 9/7/10 - Crashing a fancy birthday party

Ottava Rima (three octive) form:

The party started at ten on the dot
But our invites were nowhere to be seen
Acceptable this certainly was not
And thus we hatched a plan to intervene
Working out details of our little plot
The details were perfect, really pristine
We’d go over the fence and across the lawn
Sneak past security, and party ‘til dawn

But alas, it just wasn’t meant to be
I fell off the wall and crashed to the ground
Wailing in pain like a tortured banshee
And then you the security guards found
Would-be party crasher turned detainee
Both of us ejected from the compound
Apologies and departure we did feign
For we fully intended to try again

This time via the side door for the staff
You as a bartender, me a waiter
We each walked in by grabbing a carafe
We’d mingle a bit then party later
But it was ruined by a simple gaffe
When I spilled pate on the curator
Now we’re sitting here, all locked up in jail
Deprived for good of our own holy grail
