Misty, Moonlight, and You

Misty, Moonlight, and You

A life riding fences don't seem much to some
but tomorrows for certain, I know what will come.
No traffic, no worries, no Afgans or Iraq.
They'll just have to wait until I come back.
I'll saddle up Misty and ride all day long.
No calls or emails – just me and this song.

Life is uncertain – it sure keeps you guessing
but look in your heart, you'll find many a blessing.
Long days in the saddle gives me time to think
and, once I get beyond wild women and drink,
I know I can rely on Misty, my horse,
sunshine and moonlight ... and you, of course.

I'll never get rich but I'll never be poor.
The sky is my ceiling, the prairie's my floor,
a bedroll's my couch, the stars my T.V.
and when I need a bathroom there's always a tree.
No walls to confine me, I'm totally free –
(of course you and Misty might disagree.)

The moon is just rising, it's getting late.
My stomach is full from the beans I just ate.
A nip from the bottle to chase off the cold.
as coyotes remind me of you as you scold.
The songs of the prairie will sing me to sleep.
My blessings are many and, thank God, they're cheap.

The sun's coming up, time to roll up my bed -
I just wish this tune wasn't stuck in my head ...
I'll saddle up Misty and ride all day long.
No calls or emails – just me and this song.

(Fade) No calls or emails – just me and this song.
Forget all the details – just me and this song.
... Just me and this song.
