                              Ghazal 173


Persian:  Az yaad e to dil juda na khahad shud
              Waz band e to jaan riha na khahad shud
Urdu:      Yaad say dil juda na ho jaa'ay
              Band say jaan riha na ho jaa'ay

English:  My darling, you I cannot forget
              And falling in love I'll never regret
                                    -

Persian:  Paiwand e to az to nagsalam hargiz
              Ta jaama e jaan qaba na khahad shud
Urdu:      Taeray rishtay ko toarhnay say kaheen
              Jaama e jaan qaba na ho jaa'ay

English:=== The bonds of love are hard to break
                  So my passion for you I cannot forsake
                                      -

Persian:  Teer e mizha meezani keh kas paishat
              Chu mun hadaf e bala na khahad shud
Urdu:        Baitawajjeh chala na teer e nazar
                Yeh kaheen phir khata na ho jaa'ay

English:=== For love is an arrow, a deadly dart
                  It hits and does not leave the heart
                                      -

Persian:  Darday daaram ba seena az ishqat
              Kaan dard e kohan dawa na khahad shud
Urdu:      Dard day per na is qadar keh kaheen
              Yeh khud apni dawa na ho jaa'ay

English:=== And what a mess of the heart this arrow makes
                  For it bleeds, and bleeds, and aches, and aches
                                        -

Persian:  Gufti keh ghulaam e mun na shud KHUSRO
              Hum khahad shud, chira na khahad shud
Urdu:      Zulm KHUSRO pay ker na yuin keh kaheen
              Darmian chun chira na ho jaa'ay

English:=== So now you know why KHUSRO craves                         
                  And why he's one of your many slaves
