It was midnight and I joined a site and there Kimmie and I encased in our love of writing, chatting, reviewing days events, discussing our children, and the logical sense of the world.
It would be another year before we would meet at a writing convention. We knew each other instantly, and instead of our fingers moving 80 words a minute our mouths flapped in continuous motion. We would be forever friends from that point forward. Our lives got busy and we seemed to have less time for each other but when we connected it was as if no time had passed at all. Eventually it became Christmas and Birthdays that we would connect. I knew she had been ill for so many years, and the pain and frustration of never getting better seemed endless. When last we spoke at Christmas I could here her sadness. But when she missed her usual Happy Birthday to me, I figured time had just gotten away from her. Today went to FB to wish her a Happy Birthday, only to find out that she had passed away in March 2010. How did I not know? How did I not connect the dots? How could I miss saying goodbye? Your life was a complex mix of good and bad, but through it all you remained positive. You were a Lady in the true sense of the word that I am thankful I had the pleasure of meeting, knowing, and loving dearly. Rest in peace Kimmie-bear.
