What Is It About Love?

Is love such a wonderful feeling?
From within one’s heart and true,
So many different types and levels,
Why love and nothing else would do?

Various descriptions and many potions,
To strengthen love in our search we find,
For broken hearts and sore relationships,
There are remedies and prescriptions of different kind.

However, could love be worth the pain some of us bear?
Those memories of tender moments we happened to share,
Was it a true feeling or hidden lust beneath?
For very often, we do hear of people who cheat.

Why then is it love that we hope to find?
A search that never ends for all humankind,
Great men have tried, their efforts all in vain,
Their only conclusion is God’s love, so why all the pain?

Is it desire on which we have no control,
Or the failing of though in pursuit of a goal,
Is it an instinct, which in an animal we find?
Love at creation; what did God have in mind?
