                   What Do You See?

We’ve waited all year for this day to arrive.
The fervor and frenzy make us feel alive!

The time is approaching; the crowds gather in.
The wonderful fete is about to begin!

With anticipation, the fever pitch grows.
The watchers pack tightly, in rows upon rows.

Then suddenly, silence descends on the throng.
They smile at each other; it won’t be too long!

A fanfare is played by a trumpet and drum.
Get ready, get set and look out! Here they come!

The music begins and the dancers step out.
They shake and they shimmy; they sing and they shout!

Some wear feathered boas and tall sequined hats,
While others have whiskers and tails, just like cats!

With colorful costumes, they’re cheering out loud.
They frolic and shriek as they wave to the crowd.

They strut and they prance to the rhythm and beat.
The crowd surges forward along Bourbon Street.

The tuba is playing a loud oompah-pah.
Come join in the fun! You can’t miss Mardi Gras!
