If A Tree Falls

If a tree falls in the forest
who gives a damn!
Nature can take care of herself.
It's man that screws things up.

If a tree falls
does nature schedule a board meeting?
set up a standing committee?
prepare a white paper?
call a referendum?
raise taxes?

If a tree falls
it becomes habitat
for small animals.
It allows more sunlight
for smaller trees.
It decays
and becomes
breeding ground
for new growth.

Man pollutes the air we breathe,
contaminates the land we need for crops,
poisons the rivers and oceans
killing off marine life.

Trees and plants create oxygen
necesssary for us to breathe.
They absorb harmful carbon dioxide.
They are the food we eat
and the food for our livestock.

There is a disconnect here.
Nature is our lifeline,
everything we need for survival.
Why is man racing headlong
to extinction?
