"With Thyme To Heal Your Mind"
I wander, wondering around in my mind.

I wander, wondering the fool that was me
clowning around in a thought of love,
her sweet embrace on my mind,
with a million kisses sweet.
Maybe there to propose,
will you marry me?
But no, never now,
her angry reply –

“Who do you think I am?
Your lying eyes in my mind,
seeing me the fool in bed with you,
trapped within lies taking me for granted.
Where to toast with wine, another love
wrapped like ivy in the darkness,
my precious life turns true,
the jokes on you."

Dear heart of mine,
playing your cruel games,
how will you keep me from dying?
"No, you can’t hold the hands of time,
and you’ll always be the one she left behind.
Why not bow the knee, pleading a new beginning there,
red roses and a satin gown, sprinkled with golden sequins.
Maybe then, she will forgive you with thyme to heal your mind."

Oh! to be a clown, clowning around weeping tears for the crowd,
laughing and joking, what a show for the love of a lady waving.
“Will you marry me, to love and hold forever more?”
I wake the dream, where and who am I
lying all alone in the sands of time,
without a family to care for?
Mom comforting me,
a needle to dream.

Dad, don’t go away.
Mom will forgive you
when you promise to love us,
with no more lies in your eyes, a disguise
so cruel, when you left without saying goodbye.
Only a note on the door, so cold a word without love,
my world come tumbling down, the man now a child again.
Where to hide, seeing Mom so afraid when he comes home late.

“Billy boy, wake up my darling, it’s too late the tears for your Dad.
Come now, Grandpa phoned and we are returning to the farm,
where you were so happy, the little boy riding your pony.
There in the golden fields of hay where we played,
while your dad was away on business,
another excuse returning home late.
No more bad dreams my child,
the Man I see in you.”
