Planets War: The Fight for Earth, Part 1

Masiyoshi was sitting in the front seat of the Jeep, while James Dickson was driving. It had been a while since Masiyoshi had been to San Diego. At that time, it was sunny and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Now rain poured onto the populous city. "Are we almost at San Diego?" Masiyoshi asked.
"Why are you asking?" James asked.
"I fear that if we don't get to San Diego in time, the Kazinites will conquer much of western United States! We cannot afford a loss so severe," Masiyoshi stated.
James nodded. "I can understand your concern, and I am grateful that you decided to fight in this battle, but I don't understand why you didn't just stay in Japan after you won the battle in Beijing."
"I am here to assist in the arrest of Towo. He is cunning and deadly. Only I know his powers," Masiyoshi replied.
James nodded again, but then spoke up. "Only a few minutes to San Diego."

Towo stood atop a large building in the evacuated city of San Diego. Through the rain, he could see barely anything. The visibility out was horrible.
"Do you see if the enemy is arriving, Nurr?" Towo shouted above the wind.
"Redrum should bring back a report," a nearby Kazinite replied.
"Who is Redrum, Nurr?" Towo asked, suspiciously.
"Redrum is a mercenary from Maaso. He is specialised in killing people when they aren't expecting it. When they finally expect him, it'll be too late," Nurr stated.
"I hope you're right. If he gets killed, you have wasted several kazi on him."
"I believe in his skills to take them out before they get here," Nurr replied.

Redrum and two other Maas mercenaries hid behind a large rock in the ground. "When will they arrive, Redrum?" one asked.
Redrum lifted his pistols, and stood up from the rocks. "They have arrived, Hohkon. Ready your rifle."
Redrum squeezed the trigger on both his pistols. Several other Maas mercenaries jumped up from hiding positions, and fired at the coming-by San Diego reinforcements.

James stopped the vehicle when the windshield was shot out. Masiyoshi and James jumped out. The vehicles ahead of them stopped as well. "We're being attacked!" James shouted.
"Can you see them?" Masiyoshi asked.
"No. The fog is blocking visibility, but I can make out where the shots are coming from!" James said.
"These aren't Kazinites," Masiyoshi declared. "They don't usually fire this accurate!"
"Well, whoever they are, they are working for the Kazinites. We must attack!"
Masiyoshi pulled out his sword, and ran into the fog, desperately trying to find an enemy, but he found none, though he was shot at, narrowly missing a shot in his head. He quickly took out his pistol, and fired in the direction of the attacker. Masiyoshi was ready to check to see if anybody died, when someone rushed up to him, and punched him in the stomach.
Masiyoshi clutched his stomach, but still held his sword in his hand. The attacker had disappeared into the fog again, but Masiyoshi expected yet another attack. The attack came, but this time, Masiyoshi was prepared. He elbowed his attacker in the chest, but this didn't slow the attacker down, but it just encouraged him. "You fight good," the attacker replied.
"You guys aren't Kazinites. What are you then?"
"Mercenaries from Maaso. You won't manage to defeat us. We are more trained than the Kazinite soldiers."
Masiyoshi lifted his sword to his attacker. "You fought good, but now you die!"
The attacker quickly ran back into the fog, before Masiyoshi could kill him.
"Where are you?!" Masiyoshi shouted.
There was no reply. After a few minutes, another attack hadn't happened. Masiyoshi presumed the attacker had just carried on, but this was wrong. He rearrived, carrying a small blade, charging towards Masiyoshi. Masiyoshi quickly ducked when the attacker arrived, and kicked him down. He positioned the sword just above the mercenary's neck. "You lose, mercenary."
It was at that moment that another mercenary emerged from the fog, and grabbed onto Masiyoshi's arm. He tried to get the mercenary off his arm, but this one was tougher than the one on the ground before him.
"You are a much more experienced assailant than your ally here. I presume you are the leader," Masiyoshi said.
"You presume correct. I am Redrum from Maas. I was paid to not allow you to reach San Diego."
"And you are going to do that by clutching onto my arm?" Masiyoshi asked.
"No," Redrum said, pulling a small device out of his pocket. He stuck it into Masiyoshi's arm. "This vaccine, known as lacertosus iuguolo. Do you know what that means?"
Masiyoshi shook his head.
"It means 'muscle killer' in what you Earthlings call, Latin."
"How long will it take then before it finally kills me?" Masiyoshi asked.
"Ten minutes."
"And I assume there is an antidote to lacertosus iuguolo?"
"Yes. But the only cure is found back on Maaso. You'll never reach there in time."
Masiyoshi managed to get Redrum off of him. He lifted his sword. "I don't think that your lacertosus iuguolo will kill me in time," Masiyoshi said, stabbing his arm with his sword. "None of the bad blood will get to my heart."
Redrum laughed. "I didn't inject you with anything! It was a trick to get you to bleed to death, which you will now!"
Masiyoshi was about to swing his sword at Redrum, but his vision began to blur. Within a few seconds, Masiyoshi lay on the ground, unconscious.

Masiyoshi woke up, and the first thing he saw when he got up was his medical robot. "Sir. He is awake."
Masiyoshi looked around, and saw that he was laying in the mud, but no Maas mercenaries were around. "Where is Redrum?" Masiyoshi asked.
James came into view. "If you're talking about the attackers, they fled for San Diego when the Kazinite rebellion arrived."
"Where is the Kazinite rebellion now?" Masiyoshi asked.
"They ran after the attackers. I presume that they are assisting the soldiers in San Diego as we speak."
Masiyoshi stepped onto his feet. "What happened to all of the blood I lost?"
"One of our supply trucks was carrying extra blood, which was added into your body," the medical robot stated.
"We need to reach San Diego. There is a clear path from here to there," Masiyoshi demanded.
"The Kazinite rebellion will be able to defeat the Kazinites at San Diego," James said, sounding unsure.
"I doubt that. They need the help of a general. That would be me."
"No. You must rest," the medical robot suggested.
"JM-606. This is my decision, not yours," Masiyoshi said.
"It was a suggestion, sir," the robot said.
"I'm not going to listen to that suggestion. I need to help fight."
"Your decision may lead to your loss," JM-606 pointed out.
"I'll be okay," Masiyoshi said, confidently.
"Okay. We'll reach San Diego in a while," James said.

Towo flicked his holoreceiver on when he new he had a live message. A hologram of a scout appeared.
"What is your business, Scout?" Towo asked.
"The enemy is only about one mile from San Diego. Masiyoshi Kozumi is with them."
"He's alive?" Towo asked.
"Yes," the scout replied. "It seems that the mercenaries had failed at their job."
Towo turned to Nurr. "Did Redrum give you a reason of why he retreated?"
"None," Nurr replied. "But now an explanation is needed."
Nurr spoke into his comm device, while Towo continued the conversation with the scout. "Nurr will come by to defend the outskirts of the city soon, Scout," Towo said.
Redrum had responded to Nurr's message. "Why am I up here?" Redrum asked.
"Why did you and your fellow mercenaries retreat?" Nurr demanded.
"Your own men fired upon us in fighters!" Redrum shouted.
"We have no fighters in the area, Redrum," Nurr stated.
"Well, I was certain that the people in the cockpits were Kazinites!" Redrum exclaimed.
"Yes," Towo interrupted. "Several rebels from Kazin have joined Earth's military."
Nurr scowled at Redrum. "Your men will assist in defending the city."
"No problem for me, Nurr. As long as we all get paid what you promise."
"You'll receive no pay unless you succeed this time," Nurr said, harshly.

Masiyoshi looked out into the fog, which was beginning to clear, but was still thick, and being splashed with rain. "Where is San Diego?" Masiyoshi asked. "Shouldn't all the lights be on?"
"The citizens were evacuated from the area to avoid an epidemic. Trust me. We are near the city."
A large explosion hit near the hoverjeep. "We're being attacked again!" James shouted into his comm device, driving forward.
As they drove forward, two tanks came into view, a few flak guns, and several soldiers. "It looks like they expected us."
Masiyoshi jumped out of the jeep, and climbed onto the roof, with his sword out. "Go to the highest speed. We'll ram some of the Kazinites, and any on the side will get killed by my sword."
The vehicle suddenly went much faster, speeding toward the Kazinites. When they were within firing range, the soldiers shot at them, but this hadn't slowed them down. The jeep slammed into several soldiers, while Masiyoshi slashed his sword around, killing several Kazinites as well. Soon, the reinforcements coming along with Masiyoshi and James arrived, firing at the Kazinites.
Masiyoshi quickly jumped off the jeep, with his pistol raised. Several soldiers emerged from the tanks, carrying machine guns, and firing at him. He quickly ducked behind a parked vehicle, and fired back.
Masiyoshi was ready to fire again, but he saw Redrum, firing from behind a rock at his soldiers. He pulled out his sword, and would have run to Redrum instantly, if he wasn't being shot at. He lifted his pistol, and fired at one of the gunners, missing.
One of the five gunners ran behind the parked vehicle, and attempted to shoot at Masiyoshi, but he quickly sliced the machine gun with his sword, making the usually deadly weapon not so deadly anymore. The Kazinite tried running, but he got beheaded by Masiyoshi.
Masiyoshi shouted into his comm, "Hynos. Where are you with those fighters?"
A voice replied. "The flak guns and tanks will make our arrival more difficult. Are you sure you want us to attack now?"
"Yes. Nobody has gotten to the flaks or the tanks. Maybe you'll have a chance to destroy them from the skies."
"I'm very hesitant about this plan, Masiyoshi, but you're the leader."
Masiyoshi quickly jumped out from behind the vehicle, and fired again at the soldiers with the machine guns. He managed to shoot one, but had to duck behind the vehicle again. In the blink of an eye, someone had shot down all the Kazinite soldiers firing at him. Masiyoshi emerged from behind the vehicle, and saw that the Maas mercenaries had fired. Redrum approached him.
"What do you want, Mercenary?" Masiyoshi spat.
"A temporary alliance. These Kazinites are starting to drive me crazy!" Redrum said.
"What do you mean by a 'temporary alliance'?" Masiyoshi asked.
"I am a mercenary, and work solely for money. This temporary alliance will allow me to assist you for no money," Redrum said.
"And you'll betray your Kazinite allies?"
"They aren't my allies, but my payers. I have no compassion towards these punks."
"We have a deal then." Masiyoshi said, and then spoke into his comm. "The mercenaries are on our side now!"
Another mercenary rushed up to Redrum. "What is your report, Hohkon?" Redrum asked.
"Kazinite fighters are arriving. Shall we fire upon them?"
"No," Masiyoshi said. "They are my allies."
"Tell the Maas to continue attacking the Kazinites on the land. We'll wait and see how the fighters do."

Nurr looked out from the hatch at the top of the tank. Five Kazinite fighters came into view. "Good. Perhaps Towo has sent reinforcements."
The fighters began to drop bombs onto the other tank, and the flak guns. "This is not good. Retreat back to the city!" Nurr shouted.

The Kazinites rushed back to the city, but several Kazinite soldiers were killed during the retreat. "That's right! Go back to your strongholds!" Redrum shouted.
"We must defeat the Kazinites so they don't take over San Diego. Pursue!"
All of his soldiers rushed after the Kazinite soldiers. James arrived in the jeep to pick Masiyoshi and Redrum up. "We need to catch up to that last tank. The commander of this force is in it!" James exclaimed.
Both of them jumped onto the vehicle, which rushed up quickly to the slow tank.

Nurr looked to his left, where the jeep was located. He shouted below. "Sergeant! Fire the side weapons! Masiyoshi and our traitorous Maas mercenary have arrived!"
"What about you, sir?" the sergeant asked.
Nurr pulled out a sword. "If they jump onto the tank, I'll hold them off."

As Masiyoshi and Redrum were about to jump onto the tank, part of the side of the tank came off, and revealed 3 small cannons, each operated by a different Kazinite. The sergeant pointed at them, and the Kazinites began firing at them.
"We must destroy those cannons, but we'll need three to be evenly matched!" Redrum shouted.
James jumped up from the driver's seat, with his gun raised. Masiyoshi looked at him in alarm. "Who's driving?"
"The jeep is on autopilot! Now, let's take out these gunners!"
James fired at one of the guns, sinking a shot into the cannon's firing tube. That cannon started on fire, along with the soldier.
Redrum jumped onto one of the cannons, and punched the glass off of the attack post. He pulled the soldier out, and threw him to the ground, where he was crushed by the tank.
Masiyoshi had to take out the sergeant. He pulled out his sword, and jumped onto the cannons along with Redrum. He then sliced the cannon up, making it useless. The sergeant tried to run, but Masiyoshi had shot the glass. A large shard of glass impaled the sergeant through the forehead, killing him instantly.
Masiyoshi and Redrum jumped to the top of the tank, where Nurr was waiting.
"You fools have finally arrived. I remain unimpressed on how you managed to defeat Sergeant Olaq and his men."
"Then you'll be really impressed when you lose this fight!" Masiyoshi shouted, lunging towards Nurr. Redrum quickly followed.
Nurr jumped up from where he was standing, making his two opponents slam into each other. Masiyoshi quickly got up, and slashed at Nurr, making him get closer to the edge of the tank. Redrum followed, kicking Nurr even closer to the edge. Nurr looked behind him, and saw that he was only two steps from the edge. "You two fight well, but not as well as I do!" he lunged forward at Masiyoshi.
Masiyoshi had his sword ahead of him, and entered a swordlock with Nurr. "You have failed, Masiyoshi. San Diego has fallen to the Kazinites!"
"San Diego has not fallen, scum! We will break through, and destroy your leader!" Masiyoshi shouted.
"You realize that will never happen, Masiyoshi!" Nurr shouted, ending the swordlock, slamming Masiyoshi onto the floor.
Masiyoshi opened his eyes, and saw Nurr's sword angled above his neck. "It's over."
Redrum quickly rushed over, and grabbed hold of Nurr's arm. "You are the one who has failed, Nurr!" he shouted, as he brought his arm back, which also brought Nurr back.
"What are you doing?" Nurr shouted.
Redrum quickly grabbed hold of Nurr's sword, and angled it above his neck. Masiyoshi quickly got up, and did the same as Redrum. "Nurr. You are under arrest."

Towo watched as all the retreating forces were stopped by the fighters and human soldiers. He heard a step from behind. "Masiyoshi. You have arrived," he said.
"This time I'll assure you die!" Masiyoshi shouted, pulling out his sword.
Towo formed an ice sword in his hand, and created an ice slide down to the bottom of the building. "You'll never catch me, anyway," Towo said, as he jumped.
Masiyoshi followed, only feet away from his opponent. He chased Towo all the way to a large cliff over the ocean. "Do you realize that this rain is strengthening me. You are doomed when fighting in my element!" Towo shouted.
Masiyoshi dodged a large icicle shot by Towo, and rushed up to him. Towo quickly reacted, and entered a swordlock with Masiyoshi. "You are a fool, to believe you can save Earth. The technology to destroy this planet is being created as we speak. Virolvv's empire is also being expanded as we speak. You will never win!"
Masiyoshi was hit to the ground. "You were a fool to have come to fight me alone, Masiyoshi. Now die!"
Towo lowered his sword, but Masiyoshi reacted quickly, and grabbed onto it with both hands. Towo laughed. "That will not do a thing to save yourself, Masiyoshi!"
Towo slowly lowered the sword, which cut into Masiyoshi's skin. Warm, red blood seeped out of his cuts. When the blood reached the ground, it washed away.
Towo laughed, as he continued to cut deeper into Masiyoshi's hand. Masiyoshi closed his eyes to make himself more comfortable, but he couldn't bear the pain anymore. His arms dropped to the side. Towo looked at Masiyoshi. "You thought you would defeat me? Pathetic thoughts. Just like you thought that after killing Moronobu and Udarou that destroy a base on Kazin would be a good strategy. You could have avoided all of this, had you not decided to attack Kazin."
Masiyoshi closed his eyes, and remembered the last moments of his final family members. Moronobu, his father, had said, "When you face off against Virolvv, do not let your anger overpower you. You'll surely die."
Udarou had said, "During the war, you'll figure out how to defeat anything. Even Virolvv himself."
Masiyoshi grabbed onto Towo's sword again, but this time, lifted himself up, with his sword raised. "You nearly killed me on Polaqua," he began, "You murdered my brother," he started talking louder, "And you attacked a city full of innocent people! I will not allow you to leave here alive!"
Masiyoshi ran up to Towo, and smashed him down to the ground. Towo thought he would angle his sword above his neck, but Masiyoshi picked up Towo by the cloak, and pushed him to the edge of the cliff.
What has caused this sudden burst of anger? Towo thought.
He shot sharp ice at Masiyoshi, but this didn't seem to slow him down. Masiyoshi approached, and stabbed Towo through the stomach. Both Masiyoshi and Towo were surprised at this.
The sword was removed from Towo's stomach. Towo bent over, and clutched his bleeding stomach. "You are still a fool. What will killing me ever accomplish?" Towo asked.
"Your one less problem I have to face. Now my next problem will be fought in Moscow."
"Your future problems will get harder as you go on with them. You nearly got killed by me. What makes you believe that the next battle will be anywhere near easy?" Towo asked.
"I never said it would be easy," Masiyoshi said.
"Nevertheless, you will be dead by the time you reach Virolvv," Towo said.
"That may be true, but I would rather die trying than doing nothing at all."
Towo's blood began to drip onto the rocks, and wash away. "Nothing could have prepared me from this. I am Virolvv's knight who fought against the king himself," Towo said. He began to fall backwards.
Masiyoshi rushed closer to the edge, and saw Towo falling towards the water. "But this isn't over yet, Masiyoshi. We may, or may not ever meet again!"

James looked at Masiyoshi, who looked like he had just been mauled. "Where's Towo?" he asked.
"He fell into the Pacific Ocean. He shouldn't be a problem anymore."
Redrum rushed up to both of them. "We were allies, but if we ever meet again on separate sides, I promise you, we will not join your side."
"Good luck on your trip back to Maaso."
"And you with your mission."
The Maas boarded a ship, and disappeared into the atmosphere.
James looked at Masiyoshi. "So I presume you'll be helping Luksekii Takhan in his battle at Moscow."
"I personally don't like Takhan after his bomb threats on Japan, but I will assist him, because this is my war, that I have to face."
"I will come as well. You could always use an extra set of people," James said.
Masiyoshi looked at the sun, and for the first time of that day, sunshine trickled through the clouds.
