The late equinox is on us,
calling us to remember
the necessary balance
of the dying year.
Life, illuminated by a full moon,
shows a pile of leaves settled against
a bare tree, recently bereft
of her glowing colors.
Soon, a warm sweater
will be required
in order to fend off
the growing fall chill;
soon too we will cozy up
to the fireplace,
overcoming the the north wind's
effect on fall's ambience.
