Remember Me …
Please remember me when you rise and shine And wake up to greet the day. I’ve been on patrol through the long, dark night To defend the USA. Please remember me when you take a bath With your soap and your shampoo ‘Cause my combat gear has been worn for days, But no problem; I’ll make do. Please remember me when you drive to work In your air conditioned car. I’ve been trudging on through the desert sun But it could be worse, by far. Please remember me when you’re at the store And you shop for food to eat. All my meals are flavored with sand and dust, As I chow down in the heat. Please remember me when you celebrate At a party with champagne. I will stay right here and I’ll do my job And I never will complain. Please remember me when you go to sleep As you lay there in your bed And please think of those who have fought for you, All the injured and the dead. In your daily life, at least now and then, Won’t you please remember me? I have sacrificed, but I’ve persevered So that people can live free. ![]() 10-7-10-7 abcb
