The Rat Race
Hickory dickory dock, the mouse was quite a jock. He’d time his run just for fun by the count of the ticking clock. Dickery, dickery, dare, the mouse was unaware. Watched by cat eyes, he was the prize! The mouse had better beware! In a race around the block, the mouse had quite a shock – With warnings, unheeded, he found that he needed a kick or a stick or a doc! Notes: An entry for "School Daze Nursery Rhyme Extravaganza" Based on the nursery rhyme “Hickory, Dickory, Dock” found at http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/hickory.asp where it was noted that “Dickery, Dickery, Dare” is often used as the second stanza to this rhyme. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please, as long as you’re here, leave a comment. Criticisms, thoughts, reactions (less groaning), yes – even words of encouragement or praise – are all equally welcome Ken
