Dreams

She wakes in a sweat, her face tearstreaked
can't remember the dream, only her fear
she closes her eys, sleeve trailing her cheeks
as she tries bringing her dream to the clear.

She stops, heart skipping a beat, and trembles
she can feel it lurking beneath the surface
pulls the sheet to her chin, her mind disassembles
trying to stay focused, remembers her purpose.

The night surrounds, carresses her skin;
the wind howls a dark forboding call;
her eyes roll back, she's dreaming again
as tormented shadows dance 'cross the wall.

RUN

Whispers, menacing chants, a song of sweet silence;
she knows she must run, she must get away;
can't catch her breath, too far gone in defiance
as demons surround her lost in their play.

RUN

Her feet are so heavy they don't want to move;
Her legs won't carry her, won't hold her weight;
she feels his presence, her toe catches a groove
locked forever in dream, has become her fate.
