A Child's Cry

Momma, look at me.
Tell me what you see.
A child full of rage?
A beast locked in a cage?
Lies and deception?
Fear and rejection?

Momma, look in my eyes,
Why don't you recognize
The hidden tears
Forbidden for years?

Momma, why don't you hold me?
Why do you set me free?
Send me into the cold rain
My own world colored with pain.

Momma, when you hate,
Do you anticipate
The anger that I hold,
Rusty and growing old?

Momma, look at me!
Tell me what you see.
Do you see what I hide?
Thoughts of suicide.
