Thoughts play while he lays beside me sleeping.

Sleeping

As you lay beside me sleeping,
thoughts play in my mind,
searching for needed answers
I know I will not find.

And though you're here beside me,
It's just not the same;
Endless pain without the guilt
I know I'm not the one to blame.

I'm missing you now;
As the storm roars in the night sky.
I'm missing you now;
Raindrops mingle with the tears I cry.
I'm missing you now;
I can't sleep, I can't eat.
I'm missing you now;
on my knees in defeat.

Time changes things, this I know,
but love should never die.
And you're supposed to be the one,
kissing away the tears I cry.

Instead, I lie awake beside you
and the tears roll down my face;
defeated, lonely, and so full of pain
still you lie peacefully in your place
