In the Backyard Near the Shed

the first garden the rabbit
found without a metal fence

was full of weeds laced with
long gray hair which swung

limp in the warm summer wind
dancing off the breath of playful

love behind her grandparents
shed with a twelve year old boy

the rabbits nose shoveled the dirt
and sneezed the dirt onto its whiskers

without carrots or peppers or cabbage
smell the rabbit left the garden and

heard the long gray hair's whisper
to the wind- they won't last
