for tomorrow's sun
would make one wish ~

                   were only there
                   one star left shining
                   one wish
and I the first to see
                   the last to know
                   would not for once
                   a wealth imagine
                   or more
                   than years already passed
                   would not for fame
                   I trade misfortune
                   or take from thee
                   these fathers
                   still to shine

                   would ask no more
                   than that which
I can never know for sure
                   that you would know
                   before your
                   road was ended
                   the world revealed
                   in me
                   was first a flame
                   within your eyes
                   reflection of all I
                   could be (becoming)
                   I saw myself
                   as you could only see
                   (saw you
                   as only I)

                   I wish (and then)
                   would places be revealed
                   where I could hide
                   the truth
                   words could be
                   persuaded to be much more
                   than words
                   would tell you
                   everything (you seek
                   to know)
                   resolved in beauty
                   (was fault her wonder)
                   the sorrow
                   of goodbye
                   the mystery
                   our hello

                   would not for me
                   a star be lost
                   nor faint for light
                   I never made
                   but for tomorrow's
                   sun
                   you might be waiting (still)
                   I'd make a wish
                   and (gladly) take his place
