THE LAST DAWN
A song looking toward the end of the road

Avg Rating: (5)
When I greet the last dawn to awake me
And have no more tomorrows to see
When I have but one sunset remaining
And stand at eternity
God grant me the gift of new knowledge
That I may ever learn more of thee
God grant me the gift of new knowledge
That I may ever learn more of thee

When the last pains of life have been suffered
And my work here on Earth has been done
When the last storm has battered my spirit
And the final race has been run
God grant me the gift of new vision
That I may see all the way to your Son

When the last goodbyes have been uttered
And the words left unsaid are but few
When loved ones all fade into blankness
Yet hope rings eternal and true
God grant me the gift of new hearing
"Welcome home to a life ever new."
God grant me the gift of new hearing
"Welcome home to a life ever new."

"Welcome home to a life ever new."

NOTE: The second stanza above is spoken rather than sung, which is why it is two lines shorter than the other stanzas. These lyrics were sent to one of those "song factories" where you pay to have your words set to music. This was done and I did receive a cassette recording of the song. I was pleased with the results. Of course, I have no way of knowing how many other songs submitted by others were set to the same tune.
