                   when I was empty
                   you moved my aching heart
                   to thunder
                   through the clouds
                   a face I knew
                   smiled and everything
was as was meant to be
                   a fool to doubt
                   a fool to wonder
                   when there was no need
                   o please
                   I never needed ask
                   you knew my words
                   before I willed
                   them speak
                   for years I hid
                   in places now forgotten
                   trading trust
                   for recompense
                   evermore no more than this
                   a place to be
                   as I would need
                   another
                   more than me
                   a sun beyond my own
                   was just a flame
                   reflection fading in your eyes
                   where once I bathed
                   hours into night
                   where only you could see
                   beauty (owed to you)
                   was my belief
                   the water filled with pearls
                   (ten thousand tears)
                   so grievous the notion
                   that a smile
                   unmeant for love
                   would tary as the last
                   proof of passion shared
                   that my skin
                   ashamed in glowing
                   would forget the silken touch
                   of breath before the storm
                   the warmth of water
                   rising (as canyons form)
                   pools of understanding
                   love needs only (truth)
                   to be love
                   as I would give
                   not waiting absolution
                   (for moments)
                   when the clouds appeared
                   (as rainbow colors)
                   freedom really free
                   as I decide
was meant to be (was I)
                   before
                   before was something less
                   caused my heart
                   to doubt
                   awaiting this permission
                   (to be love)
