More like a taste of Jessie's mind and view point

Jessie looked over jealously at the table twenty feet away. Sierra Jespersen sat across from Caleb Doyle, laughing and smiling. Best friends since the seventh grade, they were practically impossible to separate.

    And it was so wrong.

Sierra’s wand was on the table next to an empty lunch pail, glowing slightly at the tip from recent use. Caleb could easily steal it right then, and she would be helpless.

Tommy snapped his fingers in front of Jessie’s eyes, trying to grab his attention. “Stop worrying about her. She’s fine with him.” Jessie’s jaw snapped at the implication. “Whoa, bro, I didn’t mean it like that.”

Jessie glared at his twin brother. “He’s a vampire. She’s a wizard. Why doesn’t he act like other vampires?”

“Cause he believes it’s cruel and wrong.”

Jessie turned his head back to Sierra in silence. Tommy exaggerated a sigh and stood from his seat. Jessie watched for a moment before he realized where Tommy was headed and followed. Jessie made it first, slapping his hand onto the picnic table that had been cleaned with magic and smiled. “Hey guys!” Sierra smiled pleasantly at him, and Caleb nodded with a grin.

“Hey, Jessie,” Sierra greeted. Her sweet voice was pleasing to Jessie’s ears, but he resisted grinning too wildly.

Caleb didn’t speak, and Jessie inwardly flamed at the possible reasons. He didn’t know what possible abilities a vampire could posses, but the thought of it made Jessie seethe. On the outside, Jessie was smiling positively to Caleb.

“So… what’s going on?” Tommy asked as the silence drug on.

Sierra shrugged. “Nothing I guess. Caleb and I were just discussing his upcoming birthday.”

Jessie latched onto the opportunity. “Really? Is it the big sweet sixteen?” He planned on continuing, leading to somehow getting him and Tommy invited, but Caleb began speaking.

“Yeah, and you both are invited.” Caleb pointed at us jokingly with a smile, his two pointed teeth showing. Jessie wanted to stutter out a mumble of appreciation, but his jaw wouldn’t operate. Caleb was full of surprises as always.
