Survival

A different day.
A different set of battles.
You fight to keep your air.

Enemies here.
Enemies there.
It seems they're everywhere.

The war complete.
The war remaining.
No one leaves unharmed.

You take the lead.
You take the rear.
All of us disarmed.

Hostages taken.
Hostages given.
Ransoms never paid.

All for nothing.
All for something.
Blood is never weighed.

Risks are taken.
Risks remain.
Children born each day.

They learn to talk.
They learn to walk.
They hold our hope.

We pray.
