Anticipation
![]() Standing by the window I gaze into the light. My mind drifts back in time to the softness of the night. The fabric that caresses me reminds me of his hands. As I undo each clasp I yield to memory's demands. My fingers stoke the silken skin, I feel the glowing heat. The tautness of my breast brings back memories so sweet. His gentle mouth, his touch, each brought their own sensation, and as I stand here, lost in thought, I feel anticipation. Then moving shadows on the wall bring back reality. What we had is gone and I'm consumed by misery. A single tear escapes as the loneliness increases. I feel my heart ache once again as it breaks into pieces. Standing by the window I gaze into the light. My mind cannot escape the blackness of the night. Notes: An entry for the October round of "KARIS'S ROMANTIC POETRY CONTEST!" Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please, as long as you're here, leave a comment. Criticisms, thoughts, reactions (less groaning), yes – even words of encouragement or praise – are all equally welcome Ken
