Pieces of Rain and Snow
a dark poem on the border between castastrophic and optimistic

Pieces of Rain and Snow

Pieces of rain and snow
Don’t cloud my eyes anymore
Nor lightening blind my vision
No thunder to numb my ears as they ring.
Peace reigns here in my fortress of dire
My walls cleansed with fire
…And gasoline.

Cold from far up north
Immeasurably deep as it seizes my bones
So shy I can’t look at myself or another
I look somewhere else for time
I’ve been wet so long I’m dry
I search for me
…And my own mind.

Earth familiar
Turn me not away as unseen.
Embrace me as one and just the same
I come here with heart and arms open wide
Fully embracing what I know this to be,
These pieces of rain and pieces of snow
…Just for me.
