                                        Ghazal 188


Persian:  Dil keh baa khoobaan e badkhoo aashnaaie meekunad
              Sheeshaay baa khaaraa'ay zoaraazmaaie meekunad
Urdu:      Dil ko baa khoobaan e badkhoo aashnaaie ho gaie
              Sang say sheeshay ko ik zoaraazmaaie ho gaie

English:=== O why must we love a callous doll
                  And hit our heads agaist the wall?
                                              -

Persian:  Chun tamay daarand mushtaaqaan wafa az naikoaan
              Husn chun baa naikoaan hum baiwafaaie meekunad
Urdu:      Aashiqaan rakhhtay naheen ab dil maen ummeed e wafa
              Un ko aisi dilfiza kuchh baiwafaaie ho gaie

English:=== We go for the girls who're insincere
                  And the cruel ones we hold so dear
                                                -

Persian:  Shola e mashriq keh charkh afroakht, meedaani keh cheest
              Bar dil e humsohbataan daagh e judaaie meekunad
Urdu:      Purtue e dildaar daekhha shola e mashriq maen jab
              Kam shab e hijraan ki takleef e judaaie ho gaie

English:=== And all lifelong for them we long
                  Knowing that to us they'll never belong
                                                -

Persian:  Zaahiday koo khoo ba masjid kard o khoobaan ra na deed
              Hast naabaaligh zaroorat paarsaaie meekunad
Urdu:      Muttaqi wo, dushmani thi butparastoun say jisay
              Daekhh ker but rukhsat us ki paarsaaie ho gaie

English:=== But when they smile, we're easily misled
                  And even the preacher loses his head
                                              -

Persian:  Ger na KHUSRO az hayaat e khaishtan sair aamdast
                Az cheh baa khobaan e badkhoo aashnaaie meekunad
Urdu:        Tang aaya tha na KHUSRO umr say toe kuin usay
                Phir say baa khoobaan e badkhoo aashnaaie ho gaie

English:=== And even our KHUSRO who's so very smart
                  He also adores them with all his heart
