Prompt: The towering wave loomed above as its foamy fingers lashed outward.

The towering wave loomed above
As its foamy fingers lashed outward.
Just seconds before it consumed my love,
There was no siren to warn of this coward.

The tsunami formed after a quake
Rumbled and shook undersea.
So much destruction and lives it would take
Causing ever so much misery.

A beautiful holiday ended in gloom;
Many were lost there that day.
Those who survived that morning of doom,
Cannot overcome their dismay.

The sea though now placid became a beast
And swallowed up my whole life.
Instead of a beautiful honeymoon feast
The killer wave took my new wife.

Authors Note: Inspired by The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. This was an undersea megathrust earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on December 26, 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing over 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters (100 feet) high.[5] It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia was the hardest hit, followed by Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.
