A Thank You Prayer

In this season of serene splendor
nature relaxes like a new mother.
Yielding fruit of every kind, she
blesses us all with her generosity.

Butterflies soar above the rose bush and
the lemon tree, in ethereal yellow, red
and orange flashes in the mild midday sun;
the floral fragrance floats on a mild zephyr.

The woods are drowsy, cool and shady
as autumn descends soft and tranquil.
Bringing a sense of contented calm,
she lets us sit back in sated solitude.
.

My eyes close in gratitude. A Thank You Prayer
tumbles out of my heart and lips to my Maker
for filling the world with beauty and benevolence,
for letting me gain and gather His loving kindness.
