Illicit Dreams
dreaming of an improper relationship

I should not have dreamt about you last night,
or your eyes so deep and brown,
or your lips and how I long to feel them pressed
against mine. I should not remember, as I look into
them even now, how I felt in that dream when your hand
gently stroked my skin. You are not mine and I belong to
him. So I should not have thought about
your smile and the way it makes me smile with
just the memory. I should not
stand so close or try to inhale your fragrance
so that I may never forget it again. I should not have
dreamt about you last night, and
I should wake from this dream now.
